Remarkable Recess

Mister OT’s Remarkable Recess App aims to provide a quick, easily accessible recess phone application (app) for teachers, paraprofessionals, and other related staff involved in the implementation of recess. Remarkable Recess will utilize evidence-based activities and strategies shown to improve student participation and activity levels. The aim is to have built-in adaptations and strategies to ensure applicability for all children that engage in recess. The recess activities are mostly adult-led, noncompetitive, and are structured to ensure that students have the best opportunity to participate and be active when engaging in recess. Remarkable Recess will be accessible to all Android and iPhone users and be compatible with tablets, laptops, and electronic notebooks.

Remarkable Recess currently covers elementary grade levels from pre-kindergarten to Kindergarten. Grade level activities and strategies will take into consideration the child’s social and physical developmental status. The activities will encompass all children regardless of limitations to ensure that students in special education can benefit from the application. The recess activities found within this app are structured to support and compliment unstructured activities found within recess.
